Current consultations

The Board undertakes wide-ranging consultation on proposals that affect the profession.

Public consultation – Proposed update of the Professional capabilities for registered paramedics

The Paramedicine Board of Australia (the Board) is conducting a public consultation as part of its proposal to update the Professional Capabilities for registered paramedics (the capabilities).

The capabilities identify the minimum knowledge, skills and professional attributes needed for safe and competent practice as a paramedic in Australia.

Paramedicine became a nationally regulated health profession in November 2018, and the initial capabilities came into effect in June 2021. The capabilities were derived from existing regulatory documents for the profession and capability models across the National Scheme. Over the last five years the sector has operationalised this regulatory tool and the Board is now well placed to refine the current capabilities to incorporate learnings from implementation and ensure the capabilities are fit for purpose.

The Board invites your feedback on the revised capabilities.
