Our regulatory position

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ahpra and the National Boards have had to adapt the way we regulate. While working to support the emergency response, we have released the following joint statements:

  • Third Statement from National Boards and Ahpra
We have made a series of pragmatic decisions (to boost the number of available practitioners in key professions to respond to the emergency) and to temporarily modify some of our regulatory requirements, while maintaining patient safety.
Published 2 April 2020. Read the news item.
  • Second statement from National Boards and Ahpra
We are working with health departments and others to support a rapid increase in registered practitioners and to look after registered students, our future registered health practitoners.
Published 24 March 2020. Read the news item.
  • Statement from National Boards and Ahpra
We recognise that in these challenging circumstances, there may be a need for registered practitioners to adjust established procedures to provide appropriate care to patients and clients.
Published 13 March 2020. Read the statement.
